SEI's
work environment is the envy of all who see it. Interesting and varied work, flexible
hours, an informal atmosphere, pleasantly appointed offices (real offices, with
doors!), and world-class tools and compute environment make SEI the ideal place
to work. SEI is a company built by engineers for engineers. We make sure our people
are provided with the very best in tools and environment, as well as exciting
projects and continuous learning opportunities to keep their creativity challenged.
One
of the things people like the most about SEI is the immense
variety of projects we do. You'll have the chance to work
on graphics and multimedia chips, communications interfaces,
processors, speech chips, laser-printer controllers, and
many others.
The
opportunities for career growth and the acquisition of new
skills at SEI is hard to beat. You'll see chips through
from start to finish, from spec writing to vendor signoff,
dealing with fab issues and becoming expert in HDL coding,
synthesis, verification and STV and circuit design. We like
to keep our design teams small - one to three engineers
per chip - so you have a lot of control over how your work
gets done, and your contribution really counts. And because
of the variety of systems we design for, you'll become familiar
with a wide range of system architectures.
SEI
maintains close ties with our local university, UCSC (University
of California at Santa Cruz), which has a very active Computer
Science and Engineering department. Some of the advanced
courses in VLSI design at UCSC are taught by SEI engineers
- these classes are also offered in-house to our engineers
as formal training programs.
You'll
find SEI a very sociable place too. We're still small enough
to retain that friendly small-company atmosphere. Our employees
are active in a wide range of outside activities in the
community and beyond. SEI rents a large house near Lake
Tahoe each winter for our annual company ski weekend. SEI
also sponsors "Team SEI" - our marathon running team that
competes annually in the Big Sur Marathon and other events.
We're also actively involved in giving back to the community
through the support of local charities.
All
in all, you'll find that SEI offers a variety of work, an
ongoing learning experience, and a friendly and supportive
atmosphere to make your workday challenging and enjoyable.
